Snowshoeing & Cross-Country Skiing

There’s nothing like experiencing the winter countryside up-close-and-personal on snowshoes or cross-country skis. Don’t be fooled, while it might look easy, Nordic skiing can still offer a good workout (if that’s what you want). It’s also a more peaceful, quiet, close to nature way to see the mountains, forests, and wildlife we’re so famous for. 

If you’re a novice and want a quick lesson before hitting the trails, be sure to check out Teton Nordic Ski School in Driggs, Idaho. For trails, Teton Valley Trails & Pathways (TVTAP) provides an extensive network of groomed trails throughout Teton Valley that fit all levels of cross-country experience. One of their most popular trails in Teton Canyon offers miles and miles of smooth groomed track and stunning views of the Grand Tetons. There are also perfectly groomed tracks at Teton Reserve Golf Course, centrally located between Victor and Driggs, and with mountain views in all directions. That’s not all! Fat Biking Trails

Mountain bikers love Teton Valley, and just because its winter doesn’t mean you can’t keep on biking. Fat Bikes are the mode of travel once snow coats the trails. It’s all the fun of mountain biking, but with wider tires to allow for travel on the snow. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s an experience you’re sure to love. Snowmobile Tours

If you love cutting through fresh powder and spending the day exploring mountain ranges on snowmobiles, this is the place to be! For snowmobile rentals, check out Teton Valley Adventures, located in Driggs. They offer tours ranging from locally in the Big Hole Mountains to Mesa Falls (where you can see fish spawning and moose in the forests), to Yellowstone National Park. Sleigh Rides

If you’re looking for a more low-key and classic winter experience, there’s nothing better than a sleigh ride! Check out Linn Canyon Ranch and take in the spectacular views of the Teton Mountains as you dash through snow-covered fields. After your sleigh ride, warm up by the fire with a cup of cocoa back at the ranch. They also offer dinners on many evenings at the ranch. Winter Special Events & Festivals in Teton Valley, Idaho

As you plan your winter getaway to Teton Valley, don’t forget about the festivals and special events we offer throughout the snowy months. 

Snowscapes Festival: January in Driggs brings the world-famous Snowscapes Ice and Snow sculpting event. Artists from around the world join locals as they transform large blocks of snow into sculptures creating around each year’s theme. Visitors can watch the sculptors work all week long, then participate in the voting and celebrations culminating in a Snow Ball at the end of the week. The Grand Showdown – Teton Valley Skijoring: A unique event that features teams consisting of a horse and rider pulling a skier or snowboarder, skijoring is quickly gaining popularity in the West as an exciting and fun sport that you just have to see. American Dog Derby: North of Teton Valley, you can make a stop in Ashton to check out the American Dog Derby. Starting in 1917, this is the oldest dog sled race in the US and is held each year on the third weekend of February. More info can be found at AmericanDogDerby.com.

Feel like some more low-key activities? Another great way to spend a winter day here in Teton Valley is touring our local shops and restaurants. Start the day with a hearty breakfast at Provisions in Driggs or Butter in Victor, then stroll the main streets of both Driggs and Victor to visit our many shops. If you need some fuel to keep going, check out coffee shops and bakeries including Rise Coffee House, Wydaho Roasters, Alpine Air, and Dulce Baking Co.
